Spectinomycin demonstrates activity against infections caused by some Gram negative organisms, mainly those responsible for gastroenteritis in newborn and young animals, (Colibacili and Salmonella).

As it does not cross the intestinal barrier, its strongest activity is concentrated in the gut, where it quickly reaches high levels. 

Indications

Piglets, lambs and kids:

Prevention and treatment of infectious enteritis in young animals.

Composition

Spectinomycin base 5 g (as dihydrochloride pentahydrate/sous forme de dichlorhydrate pentahydraté), Excipient q.s. 100 ml 

Dosage and administration

Oral route.

Each pump of the plunger delivers 1 ml (1 dose) of product, containing 50 mg of Spectinomycin.

Treatment:

age of  1-7 days: 1 dose (1 ml) twice a day , for 3-5 days.

age over 7 days: 2 dose (2 ml) twice a day, for 3-5 days.

Prevention:

Same dosage as above for only 2 days. 

Withdrawal period

Kidney, liver: 8 days

Meat: 5 days.

In a cool and dark places.
